Hello, my name is Nikki Katz and I’m mom to two girls - Katelyn is 3.5 and Kendall just turned 2. My family resides in San Diego, California - although I was born in Michigan and migrated here by way of Arizona.
My background: I’m a freelance writer and author. I run All Info About Pregnancy, All Info About Math for Kids, the Fashion Accessories blog, and my personal blog at NikkiKatz.com. I’ve written four books, two of which are out already - The Everything Card Games Book, and The Everything Cryptograms Book. The Everything Lateral Thinking Puzzles Book and Zen and the Art of Crossword Puzzles will be released next summer.
Here’s what I’ve got to say about these things:
1) What’s the best advice you received on motherhood?
Take time for yourself. I was extremely possessive of my first daughter and never spent time away from her. Once my second daughter was born I started getting more involved in personal activities - writing groups, parenting organizations (I’m now a member of the board) and it gives me time for personal growth and makes me appreciate my children even more when I’m home!
2) What do you love best about being a mother?
The unconditional love that they have more me, and I have with them. My husband was amazed at the newfound patience I had for them (although it slowly is waning as they grow older!)
3) Name one mommy-gadget/tool that you love.
The Boppy. I used it with both girls for nursing, sitting on, letting them sit in, traveling, etc. I love it and still use it even though I’m done nursing!
