When I started sharing my three-year-old son’s photos, some people have asked what kind of camera my boy used. Well, it’s the Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera.
We gave it to him on his third birthday and he really loves it. He’s
been wanting to take photos for months now and he even asked for his
own camera last Christmas. But, since we didn’t find it immediately (it
was only sold in Big W here in Australia during the holiday specials),
we only just managed to get it for him.
There are actually two models that are available on the market of
this camera: one for girls (in pink) and one for boys (in blue). Not a
necessary distinction, I must admit. But, anyway, here’s a short review
- Pros:
- Definitely built for kids. Good grip, can withstand a few knocks.
- Good, basic features. (e.g., has 8 MB built-in memory that can store up to 60 pictures, etc)
Cons:
- Quality of LCD screen photo preview is poor.
- Changining batteries changes can be quite difficult.
Bottomline:
It’s not a perfect camera and Fisher Price probably could’ve done more
to improve its specifications and functions. However, as a total
package, it’s great (especially since there’s no competing similar
product available at the moment). The fact that very young kids can
learn how to take photos and capture the world around them - without
parents worrying over giving them expensive equipment to do so - is
wonderful. Seeing life through children’s eyes in pictures is
fascinating. And, this product enables us to do just that. BUY NOW:
