A b5media blog, Babylune, is just the perfect reading for new mothers, and newly mothers-again. Written by Kate Baggott, the blog is described as “Adventures in post-partum recovery. Health and well-being for mothers after baby arrives.”

New as it is, I’m already a regular reader of the blog. It comes at just the right time for me, as my due date nears. I just wish I had this resource before and after my first baby arrived, as an encouragement, an assurance that, truly, I am not alone in this sometimes chaotic adventure called new motherhood. Kate has already discussed issues such as weight loss, post-partum discomforts, and her honest day-to-day emotions.

Take heart, new moms! Babylune is a wonderful addition to the many resources now available to us through the web.

From Kate’s b5media profile:

Yes, I am an assortment of neuroses and worry, but I try to see the funny side of it.

And I know, my own health and fitness should not come last. My children need a mother who is healthy and calm, stable and fit. A lot is demanded of mothers and we need to be able to rely on our bodies to perform all of those demands. For this reason, at babylune.com, the health and well-being of mothers will come first. In the blog we’ll explore issues of self-care and recovery in the post-partum period for the mother’s body, mind and sense of selfhood. Critics might call it selfish, but those critics can get stuffed.

About the author:

Hi there! I’m Maricar, wife to a wonderful husband, stay-at-home mommy to a happy little boy (who will soon have a brother), scrapbooker, scientist-on-hold and writer-in-the-making.

Professionally, I’m a plant scientist by training, with a Master’s Degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics. I’ve worked in the academe since I finished college, in both instruction and research. My single biggest hobby these days is scrapbooking (did I say that already?). I’ve also dabbled in cross-stitching, which I would like to go back to doing someday, in addition to crocheting and knitting and sewing… someday, someday…

For now, blogging is letting me explore and develop as a writer. My first professional blog was AboutWeblog’s Housekeeping and Homemaking Blog, now called Keeping the Castle under b5media. I’m also a contributor at The 80s Club and editor of my personal project Mom@Home.
